Empath co-founder and nationally recognized cybersecurity leader Wes Spencer has been named the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the upcoming Right of Boom 2026 event. The conference, a high-stakes cybersecurity gathering for MSPs, will take place from February 3-6, 2026 at the MGM Grand Resort in Las Vegas.
Spencer, who helped build the first two iterations of the event, returns to the stage to guide what he calls a critical conversation for the entire industry. "We all need to stay up-to-date, and that’s never been truer than now," Spencer asserts. "I’ve gotten a sneak peek at the sessions, the speakers, and even the pre-days, and all of it is right up an MSP’s alley."
Unlike many industry conferences that focus on prevention, Right of Boom is built around a single, stark reality: prevention eventually fails. The event is an immersive, hands-on training experience designed to prepare MSP executives, vCISOs, and their security teams for the chaotic, high-pressure moments after a cyber incident has occurred, the "Right of Boom."
With over 50 hours of actionable content, the event features live Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions, Incident Response Showdowns, and immersive workshops led by cybersecurity legends like John Strand and Kyle Hanslovan.
For years, MSPs have invested heavily in "Left of Boom" strategies, the firewalls, EDRs, and prevention tools designed to stop an attack. But according to Spencer, that’s only half the battle.
"This is an immutable fact: eventually, prevention fails," he explains. "From my days at Perch until now, one of the greatest challenges I see for MSPs is that they grossly underestimate just how difficult and challenging the 'Right of Boom' phase can be. We all think we’re well prepared, but because we haven’t truly put in the work, we discover we’re woefully unprepared."
Right of Boom, he argues, is the training ground for those unpredictable scenarios. "It’s all about helping us think through and being ready for the scenarios that we just can’t predict. That’s why this conference is so important. We all learn together and grow together."
One of the frustrations many MSP leaders face is sending their team to a conference only for them to return with little to show for it. Right of Boom aims to solve this with a focus on practical, hands-on training.
"Sometimes a talk is just a sales pitch; other times it’s valuable, but there’s just not enough meat on the bone," Spencer notes. "That’s what these pre-day workshops are all about. Not only does an MSP get in-depth training over multiple hours, but they’ll also come out with a certification as well. I’ve never seen anyone else do that in our space."
This focus on immersive training is designed to build what the event calls "cyber muscle memory," the ability to act decisively and correctly under extreme pressure.
According to Spencer, the event is designed with two distinct tracks to provide value for nearly everyone on an MSP's team.
"We have a business track which is going to focus on leadership and strategy," he says. "This is perfect for MSP owners, CISOs, vCISOs, and others in technology strategy."
"We also have a technical track, which is perfect for anyone in a technical role where security is a part or all of their job," Spencer continues. "What makes this really special is that essentially anyone at the MSP can come and will be guaranteed to get some great value."
