Where Do I See Course or Pathway Assignment Requests from Employees?
Learn where Empath displays employee course and pathway assignment requests, including email notifications sent to Managers and in-app alerts, and how to take action once a request is received.
Summary
When an employee clicks Request Assignment for a course or pathway they are not currently assigned, Empath notifies all Managers on the account. These requests are delivered through email notifications and in-app alerts. This article explains where to find those requests and what to expect once one is submitted.
How Assignment Requests Are Delivered
When an employee requests assignment, Empath sends notifications in two places.
1. Email Notification to Managers
-
An email is sent to every Manager in the Empath tenant.
-
The email is sent from the app.empathmsp.com domain.
-
The email identifies:
-
The employee requesting access
-
The course or pathway being requested
-
Important notes:
-
These emails are almost always sent successfully from Empath.
-
If you are not seeing them, they are commonly filtered by:
-
Spam or junk folders
-
Email security or filtering rules
-
-
Because the sender domain differs from typical Empath marketing or support emails, whitelisting may be required.
Email notifications are the only option for longer-term historical visibility of assignment requests. 12/31/25
2. In-App Notification Bell (Managers Only)
-
Managers will also see assignment requests in the notification bell icon in the upper right corner of Empath.
-
This shows the most recent alerts, including:
-
Employees requesting assignment to a course or pathway
-
Limitations:
-
Notifications here are not historical.
-
You cannot view all past requests.
-
Older alerts roll off as new ones arrive.
This option is best for quick, real-time awareness while logged into Empath.
What Happens After You Receive a Request
-
The notification tells you who requested access and to what content.
-
There is no direct click-through to assign the content from the notification.
-
You must:
-
Locate the course or pathway manually
-
Assign it to the employee as usual
-
This applies whether you are acting from the email or the in-app notification.
