How to View and Export the Audit Log in Empath

Find who did what in your Empath tenant, when, and from which IP address, then export the audit log to CSV. For tenant admins.

Watch the walkthrough: Loom: Audit Logs in Empath

What you need

  • An admin role in your tenant. You cannot reach this screen without it.
  • Activity from after Empath's authentication migration cutover, which wrapped up in the summer of 2026. If you have not logged in and used Empath since then, the log will look sparse.

Open the audit log

  1. Click Admin in the top navigation to open the Admin panel. Watch this step
  2. In the left-hand navigation, select Account Settings. The page opens on the account details tab, where you set company name, address, website, and time zone. Watch this step

  3. Select the Audit Logs tab. Watch this step

What the log shows

Watch this section

Each entry shows what someone did, who did it, and when. Recorded actions include updating a setting, adding or removing a member, inviting people, and logging in.

For logins and for actions that reach outside the platform, an entry can also include the browser and the IP address the person connected from. Depending on the event, entries can also include the user's unique ID and the setting that changed.

The log goes back further than the previous audit log did.

If someone from Empath partner success or engineering impersonates or logs in to your account to perform maintenance, that activity appears in your log too.

Narrow the log and export it

  1. Set a time range and choose how many rows to show per page. Watch this step
  2. Use the download option to export the audit log as a CSV file. Open it in a spreadsheet or any analysis tool to cross-reference activity against your own training data. Watch this step

When to use the audit log

Most Empath reporting is about learning consumption: who watched something, started it, stopped, or never began. It does not record actions. The audit log fills that gap.

Use it when something a learner tells you does not add up, when you need to confirm what changed in a setting, or when you need the time and IP address behind a login.

If the log looks empty or sparse

The log only records activity from after the authentication migration cutover. If you have not logged in and used Empath since then, there is little to show until you do. Watch this section
