How do I turn a notification on or off?

Each row on the Notification types tab is one kind of notification, like Assigned training or Overdue training. Each row has a checkbox for every way it can be delivered:

  • In-app (bell): the notification appears in the bell inside Empath.
  • Email: the notification is sent by email.

Tick a box to turn that delivery on. Untick it to turn it off for everyone in your company.

Steps

  1. Go to Admin → Notification Settings. You'll land on the Notification types tab.
  2. Find the row you want to change. Rows are grouped by who they're for, such as For learners: training & content or For managers.
  3. Tick or untick In-app (bell) and Email for that row.
  4. Your change saves automatically.

Good to know

  • Every row is independent. Changing one row never changes another.
  • Rows for managers, owners and content authors start off, because they can include learners' names. Turn them on when you're ready. See “Notifications for managers” and “Notifications for owners & admins”.
  • A few rows show an Email box but don't send email yet. Ticking it saves your choice for later. See “Which notifications send email today”.
  • If email is paused for your company, the Email boxes stay ticked but greyed out with a note: Email is paused for your whole company. See “Pause all notifications for your company”.
