Notifications for learners: training & content
Learn what each learner training notification sends, when it arrives, and what your learners will see.
This article explains every row in the For learners: training & content section: what it sends, when, and what your learners see.
What do learners get?
These notifications go to the learner the event is about, such as the person who was assigned a course. They're on by default.
Assigned training - Sent as soon as a course is assigned to someone. - Email subject: New course assigned, with a Start course button.
Due dates, renewals & expiring credentials - If an assigned course has a due date, the learner gets reminders 7 days, 3 days and 1 day before it's due. Subject: for example, Course due in 3 days. - Finishing the course stops the reminders. Courses without a due date never send reminders. - Learners are also warned 90, 60 and 30 days before a credential expires. Their manager gets a matching warning.
Overdue training - After the due date passes, the learner gets an overdue email about once a week, for up to 90 days. Subject: Course overdue.
Completions & failed knowledge checks - A bell notification when a learner completes a course (Course completed) or doesn't pass a knowledge check (Knowledge check not passed). Bell only for now.
New courses in the library - A bell notification when new content is published. Bell only for now.

Good to know
- Reminder and overdue checks run early each morning (US Eastern time).
- For required training, consider locking Assigned training, Due dates, renewals & expiring credentials and Overdue training so learners can't turn them off. See “Lock a setting so learners can't change it”.
- Managers can see who was assigned or finished a course in their weekly team report. They don't get a copy of every learner email. See “Notifications for managers”.
