Getting Started with Your Campus

Campus is a community and social learning platform built into Empath. It brings together discussion, course sharing, and collaboration in one place — giving your learners a space to engage with content and each other. As an administrator, you can manage your Campus settings, members, and content to create a tailored learning community.

Prerequisites

  • Admin access to a Campus (granted by the Empath team)

Navigating Campus

The Sidebar

When you open Campus, you'll see a sidebar on the left with the following navigation:

  • Home — Your aggregated feed showing recent activity across all Campuses you belong to.
  • Explore — Discover other Campuses available to you.
  • My campuses — A list of all Campuses you're a member of. Click any Campus to open it.

Inside a Campus

Once you select a Campus, the sidebar updates to show that Campus's sections:

  • Feed — The main content stream where posts appear in chronological order.
  • Live streams — View and manage live stream events for your Campus.
  • Campus details — An overview of the Campus with key information.
  • Knowledge Base — A curated library of courses, live streams, and uploaded files for evergreen reference.
  • Drafts — View and manage your unpublished draft posts.

If you have moderator or admin permissions, you'll also see:

  • Members — View, invite, and manage Campus members.
  • Campus Settings — Configure your Campus name, appearance, permissions, and more (Admin only).

How Campus Connects to Empath

Campus is part of the Empath LMS. Courses from your organization's Empath course catalog can be shared in Campus as posts or added to the Knowledge Base. This means your learners can discover and access training content directly within the community — without leaving Campus.

Campus Roles at a Glance

Every Campus member has one of three active roles:

Role What They Can Do
Member View content, like posts, comment (if enabled), and create posts (if enabled by an admin).
Moderator Everything a Member can do, plus manage members, delete others' posts and comments, pin posts, and invite new members.
Admin Full control — everything a Moderator can do, plus access to Campus Settings, permission configuration, role changes, and Campus deletion.

ℹ️ Note: Campus creation is handled by the Empath team. Administrators cannot create new Campuses themselves — contact your Partner Success representative if you need a Campus.
